Norwalk takes steps to promote its ‘incredible diversity’ of artistic, cultural attractions

In a move to promote Norwalk’s diverse arts and cultural attractions, the city has designated the corridor from Wall Street into SoNo as a new Arts and Culture District and formed a new commission to oversee the area.

Nine community members were appointed to the new Arts and Culture Commission during the Common Council meeting Tuesday night.

“I want to express my gratitude for all these individuals who are stepping up to be members of our newly re-formed Arts and Culture Commission,” Common Council member Nora Niedzielski-Eichner said.

The new commission was made possible because of state statue section 10-401a, which allows for the creation of a “cultural district commission” in a municipality.
