‘Journey of Memories’ art exhibition makes the rounds in CT. Why it’s more than just an exhibit

An art exhibition showcasing stories of Afghan, Syrian, Sudan and Congolese women who have settled here is making a few more stops in Connecticut, according to a release.

“Journey of Memories,” per its Artistic Director, Neda Izadi, “is more than an art exhibition; it is a heartfelt tribute to the cherished moments and cultural treasures these women carry from their homelands. Despite the challenges of displacement, these resilient artists have captured the essence of their memories through evocative artwork, preserving the beauty and richness of their cultures.”

The exhibit has already made stops at Trinity College and HartBeat Ensemble, per a release, and is currently on display at The Dodd Center through late August. It will then travel to Hartford Public Library in September and Connecticut College in January.

“‘Journey of Memories’ underscores the power of art and culture as mediums for storytelling and personal expression,” says Izadi. “It highlights the crucial role of memory in preserving identity and heritage, fostering a deeper appreciation for the diverse experiences of immigrant communities.”
